Huh? Is that sarcasm?
Nope not sarcasm at all.  You live in Florida long enough, and a hurricane becomes party time.. Assuming you are not where the major storm surge will be.

Huh? Why party when there's an awful storm coming your way?

#FloridaLiving lol.  If you ain't on the east side of it,  you are usually just getting alot of rain, flooding, and possible loss of electricity.  Usually a day or two off of work aswell.  Why not party :D  ?

I'm glad you're doing okay @TwitchisMental I seen pictures of the aftermath via Jacob the Carpetbagger on Youtube and he lives in NC. Absolutely devastating what happened, my thoughts go out to everyone affected by Helene. On Monday I start a new job, and I'm nervous lol. My hours are going to be from 4 am to 12:30 pm, Thursday through Monday after my training is done the next two weeks. The first two weeks I just work Monday through Friday. Starting tomorrow night I will be going to bed at around 7 pm to get used to going to sleep that early.

I'm a Lockbox Processor at U.S. Bank! Also it turns out I wasn't actually supposed to be there that early... Oops I was supposed to show up at 7. Now I know to show up at the right time the rest of the week and next week. So I at least got to leave early today though!

Ahh okay. Sounds like an interesting job.

I hope any Gex lover in South FL is taking the needed precautions for this Hurricane.  This one is no joke.

Alex Salmond, one of the most well known politicians in Scotland and the head campaigner for our independence campaign 10 years ago, has suddenly died today. He gave a speech this morning in North Macedonia and had only Tweeted a couple of hours before he apparently collapsed from a big heart attack and died. He hadn't been looking after himself at all in the past few years, but I don't think anybody saw this coming, evidently not even him!

I guess it goes to show that at any moment, your life can just end. We can reduce the risk of it happening, but there's still always a chance. I guess we got to make the most of our lives because we don't know how long we have left.

Yikes, anyone can suffer from a heart attack at any moment. Crazy how one minute he was fine then the next he was gone.  :'(

Been going through some rough stuff myself lately.  Looks like the wife and I are officially separating.  I won't go into details but 12 years down the drain because of lack of communication sucks... So fucking much.

Other than that we have entered fake fall here..  It will be summer again in the next few days lol.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you're doing well...

I've been doing better. I had been encountering a bug with my Atari Jaguar game, where it wouldn't consistently boot on real hardware. After several days of digging with a friend, we finally found the issue. The CPU was sometimes starting before the GPU finishes and points to objects that aren't yet loaded in, so we made the CPU wait until the GPU is finished before starting, and that did the trick!

Aside from getting sound effects to work again, I'm good to finish off this "prologue" of a game before the deadline approaches in 9 days...

Glad you got that issue resolved :).

My brother has started exploring martial arts. He went to a Muay Thai lesson today, and he was showing me what he learned.
I've been practicing Aikido for several years, although I've been on and off in the last year and not giving it my all due to financial issues and depression.
We did a sort of spar, and he would have kicked my arse if it were a real fight. Aikido to be fair isn't designed with MMA arts in mind, but I found I'm not as fast or sharp as I was when I was doing it regularly.

It has made me look into myself and figure out why I was like this. I'd have done better if I was giving it my all during Aikido lessons and went regularly.
I noticed that my language learning is also slipping. I've been using Memrise to learn Japanese for a few months and it just dawned on me that I probably still wouldn't be able to hold a conversation.

I think I'm like this because I don't have regular schedule. I don't go to school, college or university, nor do I have a regular job. If it weren't for meetups or going to the local shops to do groceries, I wouldn't even leave the house.
I think this is affecting my mental health a lot and just causing me to lose all motivation. Come to think of it, I've had moments where I feel like I'm very close to losing my sanity.

I don't know what to do about it, though. My skillset is pretty specific and not compatible with any jobs near me. I have some potential remote jobs as a 3D artist for some indie games that are still in pre-production stages, but nothing in real life.

So I guess I'm stuck right now...  :'(

Good evening everyone! I hope you all have a great Halloween! I will be crashing early, I have to get up for work at 2 in the morning so I will be in bed by 7.

I hung out with my cousin the other day, and we had a long and thought provoking conversation about Autism. Turns out, when he worked in Australia, he worked for an autism mental health unit, and he said their perspectives were that autism shouldn't be seen as a disorder, but just another way the brain works. As someone with Autism myself, I've also adopted this view for a while.
The thing with autistic people is that they receive much more information at a time than a neurotypical, and this has advantages and disadvantages. Some of the smartest people who ever lived had autism, and I imagine they were able to use the way their brains worked to their advantage. I can see how autism would come in handy during hunter gatherer times. If someone in a tribe is autistic and has an obsession over building and maintaining fires, for example, they're going to be really fucking good at it!
He also went on to discuss his theory that autism actually runs in our family back several generations. I'm one of only 2 in the extended family to officially be diagnosed, but he pointed out very autistic behaviours in my parents and our grandparents. Usually an obsession on a specific subject such as engineering like my dad was into, or collecting specific things, like our grandfather collecting brass ornaments to the point that was what everyone in his village knew him for.
The reason nobody had really noticed he says is due to the fact we're an Italian family living in Scotland, so it's likely everyone just brushed off their weird behaviours to having a different upbringing. That and understandings of Autism have come a long way since the 20th century. It was incredibly thought provoking!

Also later that day I finished my submission for JagJam! :D
