Well, several events have happened in both my personal life and the world around me that had been making me feel very depressed lately. Like all joy has been sucked out and my dreams all but completely decimated. I'd been feeling miserable and just distracting myself at this point. I haven't even been going out, and using the internet as an escape from reality.

I'm feeling a little better right now. I've decided to learn very much into my homebrew projects and try to make a career out of that, as my current progress has seen a lot of positive reception lately.

I can understand the feeling. Hope things start turning around for you and lead to more positive things.

I had another Uncle pass away on Monday. This year really hasn't been the best, I've lost my cat in May, one Uncle in June, and now another in July. I'm afraid to see what August is going to be like.

Oof sorry to hear that.  2024 is a wild year for everyone it seems.

It's been really crazy lately. Shelly Duvall passed, Richard Simmons passed, Trump got shot, and now Shannen Doherty passed today. I'm not sure what's up with 2024... I get we all have to go eventually but man it's feeling like 2009 again with the celebrity deaths back to back. I just pray and hope nothing else bad happens to my family or I next month.

Just to add on to that we have WW3 and/or the 2nd US Civil War seemingly around the corner .

I had my birthday yesterday, and we had a dinner with extended family today for it.
It was nice seeing everyone again, but it mostly reminded me of how old everyone, including myself, is getting. I have uncles and aunts who are grandparents now, and those grandchildren are getting old enough to go to school. I remember when it was me and my cousins who were going to school.

Everyone I've talked to seems to struggle to understand why this depresses me so much and honestly, I have a bit of a hard time understanding it myself.

Maybe times were just simpler when we were kids? All we had to worry about were playing games on our days off school and the future always seemed exciting? Maybe it's just a grim reminder that everyone I love is going to die, and eventually I'll meet my own demise, where everything just ends and ceases to exist? I'm not sure...

I used to get depressed when I was a teenager because I didn't want to grow up. Seeing everyone get older, and getting older meant that I needed to become more responsible and I just wasn't ready for that. I didn't get my first job until I was 20 because I just didn't want to get one since it meant that I was finally an adult. I still get depressed at times about it but it's rare these days.

So I've applied for a new job at US Bank, I had a phone interview last Friday and now I've been selected to go in for a in person interview this Friday! I hope I get this job, it's data entry and enjoy doing that sort of work. I currently do data entry at my work now, but it's in a hot factory and I'm constantly on the move. I'd love to have a office job instead, this position would be in a office. I would have to move a few trays of mail but I have a feeling I'd be sitting at a desk more than moving around.

I've been making more progress on my Atari Jaguar game, and I've managed to get sound playing! I had to learn assembly to do so, and I feel like I've grown as a programmer as a result. I feel like I've broken a personal barrier as programmer and feel like I can so much more now. I could conquer the world! >:(
Maybe that's the Dunning-Kruger effect, I dunno.

I've noticed other people in homebrew communities are becoming more and more supportive. I'm keeping it under wraps from the Atari community due to it's toxicity, but I've been regularly posting updates on Discord servers for other old platforms, mainly Saturn and 3DO.
People started to ask me to port the game to those platforms after the Jam, and when I express that I would love to but have questions and concerns about how difficult it would be, they gave me suggestions or help me in other ways. (Someone even made a model for me!)
Before I started this game, they would have just blown me off and refuse to help.

I've also started a development blog for the game, and people seem to really like it, and even refer to posts I make on it before I even tell them I made them!

So yeah, things are going well so far! :D

Good to hear  :D.

Things have been alright over here for the most part. This past week and weekend has been pretty wet though.  I have been able to actually get some web design stuff done which I have been happy with.  Work has been slowing down aswell so that is a plus aswell.

Hope everyone is doing well :).

This is awesome! I'll need to check out your blog! As for me, I got a new job! I'll be working at US Bank as a Lockbox Operator, I start my new job on October 7th. My last day at my current job is October 1st. All my coworkers keep expressing how much they're going to miss me, it's bittersweet since I'll miss them but I'm also excited to be starting a new job. I'll be processing checks through a few machines, and if they don't scan properly I'll add them to a tray and move them to a area where someone else will process the checks manually on a computer. Maybe once I'm there for a while they might have me start inputting the checks in the computer, either way I'm excited!

Nope not sarcasm at all.  You live in Florida long enough, and a hurricane becomes party time.. Assuming you are not where the major storm surge will be.
