I won a CD-i on eBay for $40! It didn't come with any controllers or remotes, or even a Digital Video Cartridge (which is required for most of the noteworthy games), and was missing the front of the disc tray, for some reason.

But apart from needing a belt replaced, it works perfectly! Tried it with some audio CDs and CD-Rs of games I downloaded.

I plan to get a replacement belt and front plate for the drive and look into building an adapter to use Mega Drive or SNEs controllers on it. Also gonna try and seek out a DVC.

Welp a tree fell on our house early yesterday morning. I hear a loud crashing sound which I thought sounded like thunder at 1:30 in the morning, but turns out it was a tree. It poked a few holes in my screendoor in the basement, busted my in law's window, messed up the gutter, scuffed the house, tore some of the siding off the house, and poked a hole right by our door in the basement. It thankfully didn't pierce the dry wall, but it's still a bit more damage than what we thought initially. And here I thought the highlight of my weekend would have been the fact that I got to beta test Sonic Rumble lol.

Geez sorry to hear that bud.  Was there a rough storm going at the time?

We had storms leading up to the day when the tree fell but no thundestorms that night. We thankfully have insurance, however the insurance agent is supposed to finally come out and inspect the house tomorrow. Not sure how much it's going to cost to fix the damage, we'll have to wait and see.

Good luck with that.  Insurance companies can be a pain to work with .

Yesterday the construction company came out to take some pictures of the windows in my in law's bedroom. He also took pictures of the damage done to the outside of the house. The appraisers came a couple hours after this guy did, since my father in law wanted to be home to talk to them. Turns out we'll be getting a new roof, so again it seems the tree has done more damage than we thought. I'm not sure how much this is all going to cost and when repairs will be made.

Better news, right now my wife's cousin Lev is staying with us for about a week.  He's 15 years old and is a laid back teenager. He's been getting into movies a lot lately, so we'll probably end up watching movies with him throughout the rest of the weekend, and I'm sure he'll hang with my mother in law when I'm at work and my wife is out doordashing. We were going to take him to the zoo today, but it looks like it's getting ready to storm. I'm sure we'll hook up the Wii at some point and sing some karaoke.

Unfortunately last Sunday my Uncle passed away. We're having a celebration of life for him on Thursday at a local park. I know at least 19 of my family members are going, I know it'll be hard for some of them to make it since they live in other states. I feel bad for my cousins today since it's Father's Day. I'll be leaving work early on Thursday so I can attend, it starts at 3 but I typically don't get off work until 4:30 so I figured I would leave at noon which is my lunchtime and chill at home until it's time to leave.

Sorry to hear that. Just got through going to the celebration of life for my best friends wife.   Hope it goes as well as it can for y'all.

My uncle also passed away recently. He lives in a different country, so getting to the funeral is a bit of a hassle and an expense.
My family are going to go to his funeral. We agreed that it was best if I didn't go for the sake of my mental health, which is almost rock bottom as it is. I guess someone needs to house-sit and look after the cat anyway.

I hope you can get through this. I've been having a rough year myself, but it's going to get better for both of us! If you ever need to talk, you can send me a private message here, on Sonic Retro or even hit me up on Discord if you want. That definitely makes things more difficult when it's in a completely different state. I hope cat sitting will help, my kitten cheers me up.

Oh man I'm sorry to hear about your best friend's wife. I don't even want to imagine life without my wife, that would absolutely break me. 2024 has been a rough year for some of us it seems... I hope it'll get better for us all.

I was at a meetup happening at a gamer club I frequent, and there was a girl who gave me weird compliments like my height and shoulders. The conversation got less awkward from there and I spent an hour talking, and I enjoyed it. She seems interested in me but I'm not sure.

Sounds like there is a general interest.  I'd keep in contact for sure.
